v2.3.0
- Added hunger as a core survival meter. Hunger counts down over time, and when it reaches zero the player starts losing health.
- Added red % berry food resources that spawn most often around dense wood areas. Walking onto berries collects them immediately and restores hunger.
- Increased wild berry placement reliability so berry food appears more consistently around forests.
- Added berries to trading posts and added Shift+B as a berry/hunger testing cheat.
- Added Shift+G ghost mode for testing, with a GHOST status marker. Ghost mode lets the player walk through wood, stone, and water until toggled off.
- Updated fog-of-war coloring so remembered berries and enemies use the same dark blue treatment as other remembered map items.
- Added the Pyromancer boss enemy, shown as glowing Ψ. It spawns far from the player, acts as a light source, fires dodgeable instant-death fireballs, ignores aggro beacons, and is harmless on touch.
- Attacking the Pyromancer before clearing other enemies rallies surviving enemies to assist it. Once the other enemies are gone, the Pyromancer location is revealed on the MENU map.
- Split the Pyromancer out into its own Ψ status count and added a HUD notification when its map location is revealed.
- Moved Aggro Beacon from Items to Construction in the Crafting overlay.
- Changed planted tree seeds so grown tree patches can become recurring berry sources.
- Added occasional rich wood and stone patches that stand out after discovery and provide extra resource yield when gathered.
v2.2.0
- Redesigned the game HUD around a compact top status bar, MENU button, equal-width bottom tool strip, and non-scrolling carried item row.
- Improved browser and Windows layout parity across desktop and mobile, including better mobile zoom limits and top HUD overflow protection.
- Reworked MENU into a pause overlay with map, tool crafting, controls, and actions. Removed the old sidebar, hide button, inventory panel, and separate Items menu.
- Redesigned the MENU map into a colorful ASCII-style map that better matches the game theme while showing visited terrain, placed structures, placed items, lights, beacons, aggro beacons, and the player marker.
- Fixed placed items seeming to disappear on the map when the player stood on the same map cell by keeping the placed glyph visible with the player highlight.
- Changed crafting symbols to # for wood, @ for stone, ◊ for metal, and $ for money in the HUD and crafting UI.
- Moved tool crafting into MENU. The Crafting overlay now contains Items and Construction only, with carried counts and aligned recipe columns.
- Improved crafting menu recipe alignment on small and large screens so metal quantities no longer spill out of item rows.
- Dimmed craft buttons when resources are missing and marked missing ingredient amounts in dull red for easier scanning.
- Changed formerly instant-built items and construction so they are crafted into carried stock first, then placed from the bottom item row.
- Replaced several invalid placement dialog interruptions with a quick HUD message and tile flash for walls, traps, trading posts, and stations.
- Added enemy and player health color feedback. Enemies stay bright red at full health, shift toward yellow as injured, and pulse more noticeably when damaged.
- Changed trading so standing beside a trading post turns Hand into a green Trade button, opening a compact buy/sell panel with 1, 5, and 10 amount buttons.
- Cleaned stale removed-UI references in items.js and kept Browser and Windows shared files aligned.
